The restaurant's à la carte food was a real highlight, and noticeably better than another nearby option down the road. This was my fourth visit to Protea Hotel by Marriott Clarens, and it was positive again. The staff are reliably warm and welcoming, the rooms stay clean and well maintained, and the hotel's standard remains excellent. I look forward to returning.

The staff really made the stay, friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived right through to leaving. The hotel is right in the middle of everything, and when we had a few small room issues they were fixed quickly. A great experience.

The staff were lovely and friendly, and parking was secure with plenty of spaces. The location near the center square and its many shops is excellent. But the room was tiny, with old, worn finishes, and the bright light on the ceiling aircon above the bed kept disturbing my sleep. A depressing stay.

We asked for a quiet room well in advance, but were given one on the main road next to the entrance. Reception staff don't return calls or follow up, and we were told management isn't available on weekends. The customer service needs urgent attention. The cot provided for our baby was filthy, with stains all over both the inside and outside. It was very unhygienic.
