Tarry Stone Cottage

We spent our 20th Wedding Anniversary at The Old Barn, part of Tarry Stone Cottages, and it felt like a perfect escape from the city. Though there are other cottages on the property, we still felt on our own. It’s peaceful and picturesque, looking over the beautifully maintained gardens, and the sight of ducks makes it feel further from town than it is. The village of Dullstroom is still a short walk away. The building has so much charm and character, with lovely brickwork and farmhouse style finishings alongside modern comfort. It’s quaint and a bit magical, and really made us feel at home. Everything was spotless, well-equipped, clearly cared for and well maintained. We highly recommend it for a peaceful getaway with charm and comfort. We’ll be back, next time with the boys in tow.

The cottage feels like your own home and has everything you could need. It’s beautifully decorated, and the garden is so well maintained. I can only imagine how it looks in summer. They clean it every day. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could.

The photos don’t do this place justice. The separate, cosy cottages have their own gardens and water features, and I was extremely impressed. I’d recommend it as more of a summer stay, or bring your own wood to warm the larger accommodation. A must stay in Dullstroom.

The details in the cottages are incredible, and they’re spacious with everything you could need, even an outdoor shower. They’re within walking distance of restaurants and some shops. Before check-in, they contact you via WA with all the information, which I really appreciated, and check-in itself was seamless. A gem. If I could, this would be my monthly escape. It’s phenom!
