The best part was being able to walk everywhere. Shops, places to eat, and attractions were all close, so I never needed the car. The apartment itself was roomy and clean, with a useful kitchen and reliable Wi-Fi, and the staff were helpful when I had questions. It also felt secure. Being right on Marine Parade meant the beach was just steps away, with lovely ocean views. I especially enjoyed waking up to the waves and catching the sunrise from the window. I had a great stay and would happily return for another Durban break. It felt like good value for a proper beachfront stay.

Apartment 509 was welcoming and great value, and the beachfront setting was beautiful. There was security and reception around the clock. I do wish the municipality would do more to enforce the law and keep the area clean, so the city can get its beauty back.

The one positive was the friendly front desk staff. The room itself, ground-floor room 1, was dirty: there was a cigarette stub and used condom paper under the bed, and the main bedroom and bathroom had a strange, stuffy smell. I paid an R850 breakage fee and got only R250 back. Nothing was broken, and I left the place in order, but nobody explained why the refund was short. I’ve stayed at Durban Spa and Windermere before, and they suited a holiday much better. I definitely wouldn’t choose this place again.

It felt comfortable, almost like being at home, and I’d happily stay again. I was there for a family vacation and the staff greeted me warmly and were accommodating. The bathrooms and showers were very clean, the beds and linen were soft and fresh, and the whole place felt hygienic. It’s also close to all the amenities. I’d recommend it.
