Fouriesburg Country Inn

It’s a beautiful old building, and the staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. But the rooms are cramped and badly need an upgrade. There’s no plug for charging devices, and even on its highest setting the slow ceiling fan barely helps with the sweltering heat or mosquitoes. The room coffee station isn’t set up for two: no brown sugar, just two coffee sachets and two sugars, all squeezed inside a cupboard behind a storage chair. The lights are hard to find, the showers are dingy and unkempt, and the carpets are worn and faded. It’s very overpriced and doesn’t feel like value for money, more like four-star prices for a two-star room. The food is mediocre at best, and the included breakfast is frugal.

The breakfasts were delicious, especially the farm-fresh eggs and homemade bread, and the rooms were cozy, clean, and looked out over the countryside. The hosts made us feel very welcome during a great stay at Fouriesburg Country Inn. It’s good value and a handy base for exploring Fouriesburg and nearby Golden Gate Highlands. I’d definitely recommend it.

This place is a gem with real historical value, and the service reflects client-centered South African hospitality. Happy served me while I was using the Wi-Fi. I can recommend the scones and the delicious cappuccino with cream, and the rest of the menu looked tempting too.

A lovely little Country Hotel, especially in winter when the fireplaces are burning everywhere. The food is great, and the interior décor and original art are stunning. It’s the best place to be when it’s cold.
