This lodge keeps drawing me back. It’s my third stay, and I love the calm atmosphere and the staff. It’s become my go-to place when I need a break.

We went without breakfast because that was bad too. They brought a plated meal to the room without first checking whether we ate those foods. It was bacon and cheese, but my daughter doesn’t eat dairy or red meat. They said they couldn’t do anything because they’d ordered the food from somewhere else. Noise was another problem, at night and again in the morning while people were working. It sounded as if people were staying there. The building shown in the photos isn’t where you sleep. The cottages are behind it, which feels misleading, and there’s no security, so you’re taking that risk yourself. The welcome was awful, there was no electricity all day and no backup power, and the water was cold, so we didn’t bathe on the first night. The bed and sheets were terrible, and the pool wasn’t clean. This place doesn’t even deserve to be called a lodge. It’s an Elegant inn, somewhere you just need to sleep for a night. I’d never recommend it.

I left disappointed and can’t recommend this place. The massage itself was alright, but the Christmas voucher was meant to include a massage, head massage, foot reflexology, and a cocktail. They first asked me to come early, then left me waiting. I wasn’t given the head massage, and after I asked, they gave me a quick, half-hearted 10-minute reflexology treatment. There was no cocktail either. When I asked, they told me to have a cool drink instead because they don’t have cocktails.

The rooms feel more like a 3-star stay and could use a bit of a makeover, though for the price the place isn’t bad. I felt safe there at night as a woman on my own and had a relaxing time. The atmosphere was nice, the food was good, parking was great, and the staff were friendly. There weren’t loud children or drunkards around. I’d recommend it to anyone trying to save money while still having a good experience.
