The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the area felt safe, but the rooms weren’t equipped the way I’d like. There’s only a bar fridge, no freezer, and no broom or mop to clean up. They don’t offer cleaning service either. A cupboard came apart, and there’s no proper braai area, just a small metal coal stand that fits two chops at most.

We were only stopping overnight on the drive from Durban to Cape Town, so it was a shame we couldn’t stay longer and enjoy the pool and courtyard with its benches. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and relaxing, with everything we needed. We arrived much later than planned, but Wayne and Charlene were very accommodating and welcomed us warmly. Thanks to them for being so kind, and all the best.

The place is really huge. We’d booked for a week, but had to cancel and rush back to Joburg because of emergencies. We’ll definitely return when work brings us back to George. The no visitors rule wasn’t great, though. They could at least allow visitors during certain hours.

It’s a basic, private little room in the backpackers unit. If you’re on a very tight budget and just need somewhere to sleep, it works. Don’t expect luxury.
