The location was great, close to Summerstrand and the city, and the person who checked us in and out was super friendly. Parking was awkward but manageable. Still, the surroundings didn’t feel great and safety was questionable. The apartment was only adequate, and it wasn’t as clean as I’d have liked: the floors and surfaces had been wiped, but the shower floor and inside the cupboards were dirty, the bedding had marks, the shower drain was blocked, and the glasses were dirty. Our unit was next to the garbage disposal area, with a drain right across from it that smelled terrible. Several things were damaged: the couch in our unit was very uncomfortable, and the washing machine was damaged. The microwave turned on but wouldn’t heat our food, however long we tried. It was a last-minute booking with few other options, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it.

I went back to Impolo Apartments because my first stay had left me with a vivid, pleasant memory. This second visit was disappointing, and a lot had changed. I raised a complaint about the 500 rand deposit we’re made to pay at check-in, which we were told would be returned at checkout. It’s been three weeks and I’m still waiting. They say the deposit, separate from the booking fee, is in case guests break or damage something. My partner and I didn’t damage anything, so I feel we’ve been robbed. The apartments look nice, but little things ruined the stay, including the location, the utensils provided, and inconsistent cleaning during our stay, with no cleaning supplies provided either. It isn’t worth the price. I want my money back, and I’m not letting this go. I’ve been patient far too long.

We stayed four nights with the family and felt safe. The place was lovely, and the housekeeping staff were friendly. Still, with kids, the home got dirty quickly and there was no broom to sweep on day two. They only cleaned on day three, so we had to stay in the dirty house, which was a bit of a turn-off. There were no mats on the shower or toilet floor, and we had to be careful not to slip; a mat only appeared on day three. A few salt sachets and some dishwashing liquid in the kitchen would also be handy for longer stays. We enjoyed our time, but those small things made us wish we’d split the four nights between different places.
