I emailed Jackie on 18/15/2025 and got no response. I’m asking for a full refund for the two nights I paid for. I know the usual refund rules, but I don’t think they apply here. I cancelled the rest of my stay because the bathroom cleanliness was far below standard. After ten hours on the road, I was exhausted and wanted to get food for the weekend, since it was self-catering, then unwind and sleep. I know you might say it was my responsibility to inspect the room when I checked in, but that’s the situation. There were three active spider webs with debris underneath, which made me question whether the towels hanging above them were fresh or had been there for weeks, and when the shower floor had last been properly cleaned. A very large web was above the shower rack, with debris on the shower gel bottle below it. There was another active web behind the hand towel by the basin. When I called to ask about availability, you said you had to charge corporate rates because it was a larger room with a private garden. That doesn’t seem quite right, as another unit also has access to the private garden, with a table and chairs. Outside my unit there was only a rather rickety wooden bench table, a tree stump with a dirty paring knife on it, and three concrete benches pushed against the wall. The online amenities list says free Wi-Fi and breakfast, but you never volunteered that information. The hot water temperature was good, and I only needed hot water while showering, but I ran out. If I’d wanted to shave afterwards, I would have had to wait for more, and there definitely wouldn’t have been enough hot water for two people sharing. There were a few other minor issues I haven’t mentioned, and I’m willing to discuss them if you’re interested.

The peaceful setting and attentive staff made Lauricedale Country House feel comfortable and welcoming. The rooms and holiday home are nicely decorated and well equipped, and the accommodation works for either business or leisure. It’s also a relaxing base for visiting Port Elizabeth and the surrounding area, or simply getting away from everyday noise. The calm surroundings and comfortable place to stay made it easy to feel at ease here.

The location is amazing, and the hospitality was the best. I’ll definitely be back!

Our car broke down on the N2 late in the evening, and even though the owner was out of town, they found a way to accommodate us. The beds were made and ready when we arrived, so we could get some rest. You can tell they put effort into making the place comfortable and relaxing for guests. Next time I pass through Port Elizabeth, I might fake a breakdown just to stay there again.
