Blue Jay Lodge

We spent five nights there, and the room was luxurious. I slept amazingly well. Breakfast had a good choice, and the setting was so calming at the end of a hectic day. Phil and Margi were fantastic hosts and kindly booked the game drive in advance. They provided a packed breakfast for it too. We also did Elephant Whispers, then the elephant walk after the group activity, which was one of the most amazing experiences. Phabeni Gate is only 15 minutes away, a real bonus. Thanks, Phil and Margi, for making our holiday even better.

The gardens at Blue Jay Lodge are lovely, great for unwinding with a drink or having an evening BBQ. Breakfast on the deck was nice, and they were happy to pack breakfast for our day trips. Phil and Margi are warm, welcoming hosts. Our room was spotless and super comfortable. Such a great stay at this little oasis in the Hazyview area. Highly recommend!

Blue Jay Lodge was the kind of place I'd been saving my five star rating for. It was an amazing experience, beyond what words or pictures can capture. Margie and Phil are the kindest hosts, attentive to every detail and always ready to help us get the most from visiting Kruger National Park. They checked with the agency we'd booked our tour through to confirm pickup time and help the driver find the place. Their rooms are delightful, big, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, with lovely furniture and a wonderful bathroom and toilet area. The lush plants all around made for the nicest setting, and there's a small pool to relax by. We also had parking, which made driving convenient. We had to work there one day and the internet was great. The hosts shared recommendations for places to eat and shop. We didn't get to them all, but the ones we tried were great and affordable, so I'd follow their advice. For our 5 o'clock tour pickup, they packed an excellent breakfast. The next day we ate there, and it was simply amazing. Along with fruit, bread, juice, yogurt, and the usual things, they cook what you like on the spot, scrambled eggs, omelets, you name it. They're so kind and interesting to talk with. I wish we'd had more time to enjoy the place and hear their stories, but I'll definitely come back and recommend it to all my friends.

We drove from Joburg to visit Kruger, so having somewhere safe to park was wonderful. Blue Jay Lodge is quiet and safe throughout, and the rooms are lovely. Phil and Margi were incredibly friendly and helpful, and arranged our safaris, which made things super convenient. Since it was our first time in South Africa, we especially appreciated their suggestions for places to eat. Breakfast was lovely too. We'd absolutely recommend staying here.
