The welcoming atmosphere is a real plus, though the room areas felt dated despite the guesthouse’s charming vintage style. Updating the decor and furnishings could make them more comfortable and appealing. The beds were quite firm, which may not work for everyone. Mattress toppers could help guests with different preferences. I also found the shampoo and shower gel dispensers looked old and dirty, and their handwritten labels gave an impression of neglect. New, clean dispensers with printed labels would make a noticeable difference. I’m sharing these thoughts in the hope they help the guesthouse improve. Thanks for considering them, and I hope to see positive changes.

The price was very reasonable, especially for peak Christmas season, so I’ll definitely come back. The owners were fantastic, the room was lovely, and breakfast was delicious. It’s also in a great central spot, and I really can’t fault the place.

There’s a smoking area by the pool, which was a plus since quite a few guest houses in Hermanus don’t allow smoking. Parking inside the property is secure, and breakfast is included in the price. The staff were so friendly, the room was clean, and the bathroom had loads of space. I love this guest house. The mini bar has sodas and mineral water for people who don’t drink, too. This was our second stay at Baleia, and if we’re in Hermanus again, it’ll be my first choice.

I stay here every two weeks, and after more than 30 visits I still feel welcome and valued by Janke and Candy. The rooms are spotless, super comfortable, and work well for singles, couples or families. The internet is strong and keeps going during loadshedding. Baleia Guest Lodge is right in the middle of Hermanus, convenient for both the town centre and the mall side. Breakfast is the best, with hot coffee. These lovely ladies have never put a foot wrong during my stays. I work all over the Western Cape and highly recommend the lodge. They’re popular, so book ahead.
