The Melville Turret is an absolute gem. Prisca, the guesthouse manager, made the weekend special. She's friendly, charming, attentive, and generous, and by the time we left, we felt we'd made a friend. Her breakfast was delicious, too. Koos, the owner, welcomed us when we arrived and spent time telling us about the property's history. It's nearly 100 years old, and he's taken great care to preserve the original buildings. Our courtyard-facing room was fantastic: clean and beautifully decorated, with a super-comfortable bed, quality linen, a large bathroom, and plenty of soft towels. The kitchenette was lovely and even had an air fryer. We were treated like royalty and came home rested and refreshed after our weekend. We'll definitely recommend The Melville Turret and hope to see you soon. Thank you, Prisca and Koos!

Prisca is an angel, so friendly and always ready to help with the little things. She made my stay amazing, helped me find restaurants nearby, and was a perfect hostess. The area was quiet, I felt safe driving out at night, and secure parking was available if needed. Great price and service, and a fantastic home away from home. Thank you, Koos and Prisca. Whenever I come to Johannesburg, this is my go-to place. Mama Prisca and the staff are so loving, friendly, and fun to be around, and they always make me feel at home and comfortable. It's peaceful, you have your own space without disturbance, and the hospitality means everything. I'd recommend it to anyone, anytime. If it were up to me, I'd live there for a whole 6months. It's really amazing being there. ❤️

The staff and owners made me feel so welcome during my 6 days at the Melville Turret. I was there on my own, splitting the time between work and vacation, and everything went very well. Everyone was warm, friendly, and smiling, and always available when I needed something. The rooms and shared areas were clean and well appointed, and the interior courtyard was lovely. Prisca made a generous breakfast and was incredibly kind and easy to talk with. The street and neighborhood were calm and safe, and 7th's activities, bars, and restaurants were about a 10 min walk away. I couldn't have asked for a better Johannesburg experience. The neighborhood was quiet, yet a lively street with several restaurants and pubs was an easy walk away. It's a very nice guesthouse in a great location, with clean, well-appointed rooms and a nicely sized bathroom. There was plenty of hot water and the water pressure was good. The TV had Roku, including Netflix, which was a nice touch. Breakfast was hearty and sent us on our way.
