St Andrews Boutique Hotel

My sister and her husband were meant to spend their wedding night here, but the room was unbearably hot because the AC didn’t work. The two replacement rooms they were offered had broken AC too. The hotel gave them fans instead, and one was broken. They didn’t manage to fall asleep until 5 AM. We’d arranged a late checkout when checking in and made it clear they didn’t want breakfast, just time to rest. Staff still knocked at 10 AM about checkout, then came again at 11. After the night they’d had, those interruptions felt intrusive and showed no respect for the arrangement. There was no proper fix or alternative, and no empathy or professional communication. This was supposed to be a special occasion, but it became exhausting, uncomfortable, and deeply disappointing. For a place calling itself luxury, this standard is a lie. I wouldn’t trust them with an important occasion, and I don’t recommend staying here.

The room at St Andrews Hotel and Spa in Johannesburg was spacious and nicely laid out. We liked the two taps, and having two toilets plus a separate shower made the stay more comfortable. It was clean, quiet, and well cared for, with a relaxed, welcoming feel. My partner and I slept peacefully, and the food was fresh and delicious. We had a really great stay and would recommend it for a comfortable, stylish visit to JHB.

We barely slept and spent the night uncomfortable and frustrated. The ACs weren’t working, and my brother-in-law was handed a fan in the heat instead of getting a room change or a repair. There was no real apology, urgency, or care. Checking out was another mess, with delays and confusion and no professionalism. Completely unacceptable for a hotel that says it provides basic comfort.

Our rooms were dirty, with empty alcohol bottles and used towels left all over. When we brought it up, the woman who checked us in had a bad attitude and just brushed us off.
