Sunrock Guesthouse

The pool had been damaged in a storm the previous Sunday and had been closed for a week, but the staff didn't mention it when they contacted me on Monday to ask what time I'd arrive later in the week. I'd have booked somewhere else if I'd known. I saw parents arrive with kids eager to swim after a long journey, only to find an empty hole. At best, the communication was terrible. At worst, they kept bookings at full price by hiding the closure. Without the pool, this guesthouse has no point. The rooms are noisy, and the shuttle and cars have to honk to be let out through the entrance gate. You have to keep the curtains closed for privacy. There's a TV, but you have to log in to your own platforms to watch anything and remember to log out. Breakfast is cheap supermarket food. There are plenty of nicer hotels at better prices around OR Tambo.

The room was great, and the garden looked just as beautiful as in the pictures. You'd hardly know you're in the city. Dinner and breakfast were great too, with plenty of choice. After a long travel day, everything went smoothly: pickup was easy thanks to the detailed instructions beforehand, and the friendly driver showed us our room when we arrived, giving us some time to settle in before checking in. We'd stay here again!

After 30 hours of travel, we were grateful for a clean, comfortable room, even though it wasn't very large. My daughter and I stayed one night during a 15-hour layover at Sunrock. The breakfast was very nice, and the shuttle team kept us well informed about contacting the hotel and finding the driver. We were very pleased with the hotel and its services, and I'd definitely recommend it.

The flowers all around the property made it feel so peaceful, and our poolside room had plenty of space. Everything was clean, and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast had a great range of good food, including eggs made to order. I especially liked the proper coffee machine, which freshly grinds the beans and makes the drink you choose. We didn't eat dinner there this time, but plan to when we return in a month, instead of getting a ride elsewhere. We also got our laundry back in our room within four hours of dropping it off that afternoon, for a small extra charge.
