I was uneasy about the Hotel when I arrived, but since our travel agent had booked and paid, I decided to inspect the room. The carpets were filthy, the room smelled strongly of urine, and there was no tea, coffee, cups, toilet paper or soap. I ended up leaving, with nobody at reception to discuss any of it with. I wrote off the R1400 we'd paid upfront. Luckily, I found somewhere else.

At R1400 a night, this wasn't worth the money. The toilet and room smelled, there was hair on the sheets, and the bathroom had just one towel. The aircon didn't work either. No one was at reception when we arrived, and security handed us the keys. They need to make an effort to keep the place up to standard. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

They turn off the electricity during the day to save power, and reception is very dark because there are no lights. You'd swear Chuck from better call Saul owned the building 😪

It doesn't feel like good value for money. I think they could put more time into cleaning and looking after the rooms, bathrooms, bedding and towels.

The young woman who welcomed us was friendly and pleasant. A different lady took our supper and breakfast orders when we arrived, then served us, but part of the supper order never came. She also forgot my dessert and didn't apologize. She was on her phone and chatting with a colleague instead of paying attention to customers, and by then I was gatvol of the place. The rooms facing the main road aren't insulated well enough for a good night's sleep. The ground floor rooms near the back entrance are small, dull and musty. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you're absolutely desperate. Nauntons B&B in Ladysmith is an alternative.
