Kruger Park Hostel

I stayed at Kruger Park Hostel for the three-day Camping Safari, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s been one of the best experiences of my life so far, being out in the wild among so many animals. I was lucky enough to see the Big Five. Huge thanks to Penny, my guide, who was super friendly and knew so much about the animals.

I came to Marloth Park expecting a back-to-nature stay, but several nights there was music that sounded like disco. After driving around, I eventually traced it to the nearby Kruger Park Hostel. From what I could see, it seemed aimed at young people looking for a city experience in a wildlife theme park atmosphere. Unfortunately, the noise affects the wider area too. I noticed a previous review where the owner said the nearest neighbours hadn’t complained. Sound travels in odd ways, though, and I’m surprised there aren’t more reviews mentioning the noise. Future visitors may want to know about it.

The animals wandering around the hostel were amazing. We saw giraffes, zebras and others nearby, and elephants were visible by the river, just a short walk away. The people were so welcoming, and the hostel was comfortable and great for hanging out. There was always something happening, from board game nights and a Halloween party to game drives and other organized trips. The food at the hostel was incredible, and staying in a dorm felt like an insanely good deal. I had such a good time that I kept extending my stay. The highlight was a multi-day camping safari into Kruger. Our guide was lovely, answered every question we asked and cooked a delicious braai for us each night. This is truly one of my favourite places I’ve visited. It was hard to leave KPH, but I’m already excited to come back.

My partner and I stayed in a private room at Kriger park hostel for two weeks and absolutely loved it. The safaris and camping were top tier. We’ll definitely be back for more adventures and safaris. Thanks, Rene and Mayra!
