The Elixir Hotel

The staff didn't seem interested, and the noise carried on past 10pm, so getting a decent night's sleep was impossible. In summer there's no aircon or even a fan. The room was cramped and smelly, the bathroom stank, the shower had mould, broken tiles and fixtures, and the toilet barely flushed. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in, and I woke with a sore back. The food was horrendous. We got what I assume was beef stew, with dry cubes that looked like a dead goat left for seven days, plus pap, rice and beetroot. There was no salad or anything else, so we ate elsewhere. Breakfast was sad, with no coffee. The rooms, bathrooms and food made this feel more like a hostel or compound than a hotel. Never again.

I booked around 6 for my husband, who was travelling for work. He arrived at 8, then had to sit in the car until 9 for loadshedding to end before they could check him in. That was so unhelpful and unprofessional. Please manage your hotel better.

I was travelling for work, and while the rooms were clean, the bed was the worst I've ever slept in. The thin sheets showed the mattress, and the lumpy pillows were too uncomfortable to sleep on. They took no details as a traveller, just payment, then handed me a key. It felt like a cheap motel.

The staff were completely unfriendly, and the food was unbearable. Outside it wasn't clean, the rooms were far too small, and the bathroom smelled awful. This so-called hotel is horrible. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's a hostel.
