Monte Vista Boutique Hotel

The grounds and rooms were lovely, and the two staff members who dealt with us were friendly. They’re the reason this gets two stars. We won’t be back, though. For what you pay, breakfast should come from a clean, cockroach-free kitchen. We found a small baby cockroach in our room the night before checkout. Then, just as breakfast began on our second and last morning, two cockroaches came out from between the savoury or dessert tartlets on a little platter. One jumped onto the table and I squashed it with toilet paper. The other stayed on the platter, which I immediately took back to the kitchen. The two staff members apologised and tried to explain how they might have ended up in the kitchen or food. We cancelled the rest of breakfast and checked out. There are no TVs or microwaves in the rooms, which doesn’t make sense for a place that’s basically self-catering when you can’t even heat food you’ve bought.

The staff were professional, warm, helpful and obliging, and breakfast was really good. It’s a lovely quiet boutique hotel, tastefully decorated, with immaculate gardens. Both the room and en-suite bathroom were big and comfortable.

The staff were always available to give advice, book restaurants and serve delicious breakfasts, and they made sure our comfort came first. Monte Vista Boutique Hotel is a polished, sophisticated retreat in the heart of Montagu. I loved the fresh, artistic interiors, fabulous pool and quaint garden. The bedrooms are inviting, some with their own patio. Clever design made the room, bathroom and wet room feel spacious, and I appreciated the rusks, coffee machine, tea tray and toiletries. A gem whether you’re travelling solo, with family or for a romantic break.

Loved this hotel in Montagu. The rooms are beautiful, the beds really comfy and breakfast was delicious 😍. The pool was amazing too, and the pool robe was so fluffy. We’d definitely come back.
