We had a very nice stay in a pleasant flat, and the air conditioning was appreciated. But the cleaning needs work. The furniture was very dirty, and the braai tongs in the drawer were still dirty from the previous use. The bathroom had no toilet paper when we arrived, though the man who checked us in came back after I asked. We waited 20 minutes at the gate for him on Sunday. The shower door is in bad shape, leaks, and comes off its track. There also weren’t enough curtains or blinds. If the cleaners did a better job, the flat would be great.

Staff were friendly and accommodating, and I’d definitely come back. The self-catering units have air conditioning, which is much appreciated in summer, plus electric blankets for winter. The bedrooms and bathrooms are well equipped. There’s a four-plate stove and oven, fridge-freezer, toaster, microwave, kettle, and some cutlery. The DSTV package in my unit wasn’t premium. Since it’s self-catering, bring your own sugar, tea, and coffee. It’s baby friendly, and trained, well-behaved pets are allowed if arranged beforehand.

It could have been a quaint, cosy place, but it wasn’t. The bedroom wall had chunks of plaster falling off, the toilet seat was broken, and cleanliness was questionable. There was pubic hair in the sink, and the spare bed in the lounge seemed to have dirty sheets. For what you get, it’s much too expensive. There was no soap, tea, or coffee, and just one toilet roll for five adults. I won’t return.

After five nights, I can’t recommend this place. Maintenance was poor: the windows were hard to open, the shower door had come off its track, and cupboard doors and utensils had loose handles. The TV remote didn’t work either. The front security gate lock had seized, which raised serious safety concerns.
