We had a pleasant weekend at Old Mill Lodge from 27-30 March while visiting KKNK. The grounds are well maintained, with beautifully manicured gardens, and the setting is close to nature with wildlife right nearby. We mostly used the place for sleeping, though our family unit worked well for a Friday evening braai. We were also allowed to have visitors join us for it. The concern was security and the care taken with guests' belongings. We locked the unit and drew the curtains before leaving for KKNK on Saturday morning. When we returned late that night, the door was unlocked and the curtains were wide open, leaving the inside visible to anyone looking in. Guests commonly leave things like laptops and cameras in their rooms, so this matters. We also found a child's ball inside, suggesting someone, possibly a child, had been in the unit while we were away. I told George at Reception, and he said he'd speak to the Cleaner responsible for our unit. I never heard back from him. I'd recommend Old Mill Lodge, but guests should know there seemed to be too little attention paid to securing their belongings.

We found this gem after booking with a voucher we'd received for a birthday the previous year. The rooms and self-catering units are comfortable, and the place is peaceful. Staff at Reception and the person servicing our Luxury Room were exceptionally helpful. The restaurant food and wine were both excellent. We also went to the Cango Caves, just up the road from Old Mill Lodge. Definitely a five from us!

It's a peaceful spot where you can take a lovely walk with the family and enjoy a great breakfast. You can feed the ostriches, rabbits, ponies, cows and ducks, too. The town is 15-20 minutes away, but the quiet setting makes the distance worth it. A great place for a family stay, highly recommended.

A lovely, well-kept place for children, with lots of animals and open grassy areas to play in. There's also a big swimming pool.

A great place to stay near Oudtschoorn. Breakfast had a nice range of choices each morning, and we enjoyed dinner there one night too.
