We had breakfast and dinner at the Lodge, and both were excellent, nicely presented, and generous portions. There's also a bar. The pool on the deck is a lovely place to spend time, or you can settle into the comfortable chairs, chat with other guests, and watch the animals being fed. Cyclists can enjoy a couple of routes outside the property, so bring your bike. The family-run Zwartberg Lodge sits between Oudtshoorn and De Rust, just off the N12 at the iconic Pink Bridge. The chalets are spotless and thoughtfully designed, with air conditioning, a refrigerator, tea and coffee, and even a hairdryer. A soft blue light helps you move around safely at night. A few things to keep in mind: shops and other amenities are far away, so come prepared. Wifi is strong inside the Lodge but patchy outdoors and at the Chalets. If you have an impairment, discuss it with the owner before booking. Binoculars are handy. It was well worth visiting, and I expect to return.

The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, and the whole property was spotless. We had a peaceful getaway with spectacular mountain views that looked like a postcard. It was a comfortable place to unwind and enjoy nature, and the stay left a lasting impression. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed watching the animals from the terrace and restaurant, especially on our morning walk. Hannalize is a very good chef, and dinner was consistently well prepared, with delicious Karoo cuisine. The neat chalets are practical and have air conditioning, though no wifi or TV, which suited a restful stay. A lovely Karoo break for anyone who enjoys peace and nature.

We wished we could have stayed longer. The hosts were thoughtful and took good care of their guests, and the food was delicious. It's a calm place to unwind, with a beautiful view from the room and quiet walks through the veld where you might spot the resident giraffe. No crowds or noise.

The hosts were friendly and extremely helpful, and the food was out of this world: beautifully plated, rich in flavor, and more than enough. The kids loved going to the restaurant around 5o'clock, when the animals are fed. From the chalet you could see springbucks grazing in the morning and the giraffe on the koppie through the day. It's a lovely, quiet place, and the hiking trails are peaceful and clearly marked.
