Oom Dana Se Huis

The place has a lot going for it, especially those stunning views, but cleanliness really let our stay down. We weren't expecting luxury, just a clean house. On arrival, the floors, bathroom windows, fridge and oven were extremely dirty. The bathroom floors felt unhygienic, the toilets had a strong sewage smell, and the supplied bathroom items were empty and dirty. The sofas were stained, and the carpets looked like they hadn't been cleaned. We told management and the cleaning staff straight away. The cleaners were friendly and did their best, spending two hours there, but the house still wasn't clean to an acceptable standard. It needs a proper deep clean and professional sterilisation. They didn't even have a vacuum cleaner to use. Outside, the area called the “garden” was littered with empty bottles, plastic bags and used condoms. We later realised local children were filling the condoms with water from the property's tap and using them as water balloons. When we asked them not to sit or play on our private stoep, they started throwing rocks at the house. The patio doors were also difficult to open and close, adding to the feeling that the place wasn't well maintained. With serious maintenance, a professional deep clean and the issue with the children addressed, this could be a great holiday rental. As it is, we wouldn't book again or recommend it, which is a shame given the exceptional view and the property's potential.
