The old Roman style, wood floors and colonial bath give the place such a unique feel. Loved the attention to detail inside, and the owners were really friendly and accommodating. And wow, that breakfast was amazing. A great stopover. 😎

We came back for a second stay, this time just one night in the Double room unit, and had another pleasant visit. Miranda and her husband are very friendly, and the atmosphere feels welcoming. The room was spotless, with thoughtful touches throughout. We loved the mix of vintage and modern furniture and the tiled and wooden floors, especially the big old Victorian bath. There’s also a shower, air conditioning and Wi-Fi, plus all the DSTV channels, which is something I rarely find elsewhere. There was plenty of room to sit at the table or read, extra bedding, and enough cutlery, water, coffee, tea, sugar, milk, cereal and rusks. The toiletries were good, and I was glad to find toothpaste. Parking is behind a locked gate and fits two cars, though a larger car might look like a squeeze. The pool has no surrounding gate by the Double room, which is directly opposite it. The family unit does have a gate separating it from the pool, and I understood why the Double room wasn’t set up that way since it isn’t really intended for families. The location worked well for us: Kalahari Mall is a 7-10 minute walk or a 2-minute drive, and Upington Mediclinic Hospital is about 5-7 minutes by car. The pictures online are true to the place. I’d happily come back and recommend it to others.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner, and the staff were friendly too. The setting was relaxed, with a pool, braai facilities and parking for two cars. Wi-Fi and DSTV were available, and the casino is only a few minutes away. We had a great stay and would easily do it again.

My husband and I had the opposite experience to the good ones I’d read here, and we were very disappointed. The owner made racist remarks about the other guests, saying more than once that she couldn’t tell them to leave or cancel their booking if they had a “white” name. She also seemed not to understand that COVID-19 is a thing. After I explained the whole situation to booking.com, the owner confronted me. She acted as though her husband refunding our money meant I wasn’t allowed to say anything negative, even though she had first given several reasons why she couldn’t refund it.
