Bushmans Rock Country Lodge

The property itself is beautiful and relaxing, and the receptionist and security staff were excellent throughout our stay. My partner and I had booked the Valentine’s dinner and dance too, though, and that part was a letdown. The decorations were barely there, so I felt overdressed for the occasion. The food was overcooked, and dessert was just one cupcake. After the buffet we were asked to pay a service fee, even though we had served ourselves. I’d come back for a stay, but definitely not for the meals.

We had a great family stay. The room was lovely, and the kids had a great time in the pool and watching the monkeys. I just wish there had been something child friendly to watch before bed on the weekend. The family room only had adult channels and sports.

There’s a lot to enjoy here, from the putt-putt and restaurants to the bar, braai area, and swimming pools. The family and deluxe rooms are good too, with both a bath and shower in the deluxe rooms. It’s quiet and close to Pretoria, and the staff are friendly. Mary Jane, the room service supervisor, was lovely. A real gem at fair prices.

I was completely disgusted by the hygiene during our stay this past weekend. Our room smelled of smoke, even though I don’t smoke, and there were cobwebs around the lights. The toilet seat had urine on it, roaches were on the counters, and the bedding didn’t smell clean. I ended up feeling I had to sleep on my own towel because even the supplied towels seemed unclean. The pool right outside the room reeked of urine too, so we couldn’t spend much time there. When I got home, I noticed an infection in my eye. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
