Bougain Villa Guesthouse

We arrived at 9 in the morning after a long drive from Stellenbosch. The owners greeted us nicely, but we paid R900 for a room with no TV. There was Wi-Fi, though there was no note with the password as you usually find at other places. We were hungry and asked if we could warm our food, but the lady said no eating in the room, so we had to sit outside. My friend wanted to ask for our money back, but I was too tired and needed a shower and sleep. We slept until 12, then went out into Prince Albert. When we came back, the lights in our room were on, which felt like an invasion of privacy. The next morning the lady asked us to leave by 10 because she had house chores to do. I said fine and went to make coffee, but there was no sugar. The previous night the lights in our room had been left on, so why not refill the 50g jar then? We left before 8 in the morning, while the whole house still seemed quiet.

We had a great conversation with the lovely hosts, and our host even gave us a short tour of the town. Shops are within walking distance, and there’s safe parking. Great service and hospitality. 10/10, would recommend!

The room we rented in Esme and John’s home was lovely. They were gracious and friendly hosts, and the bed was super comfortable. The room was warm, with a heated blanket for chilly nights. Thank you so much, we’ll come back to visit.

After a hot day, the cool, shady garden was a great place to relax. Our room was comfortable, clean and had everything needed for an overnight stay. The hosts were pleasant, and the hotel and restaurants are just a few minutes’ walk away.
