Garden Court Guest House

It was a relaxed stay apart from the breakfast, which was really disappointing and definitely not worth R140 per person. The staff were friendly, and the rooms are a good size. They’re cleaned daily, but only when you leave, so nobody rushes you out. It’s a four-minute drive from central town. There are lots of potholes, though you can avoid them by taking the opposite side in or out.

The woman with the broken arm was warm and polite, and went out of her way to sort out problems. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. The rest of the stay was frustrating. There was a water leak and no water for a while. The owners said they’d come before 6 am, but arrived late, and we ended up late for work too. Breakfast was awful. In the house, the intercom kept waking us, and room 3 was next to the ironing and washing room, where the noise was unbearable. Staff started work at 6 am and were loud, banging doors, calling to each other and shouting, which meant I was up too. We were disappointed to find it was a B&B when we arrived. Naming it Garden Court felt misleading, and even Google Maps didn’t identify it as a B&B. I believe they can do better, and should change the name. Thanks.

There was no hot water from Thursday through to Saturday morning when I was in room 4. A really disappointing stay.

The place is more than great. The roads around it are full of potholes.
