I stayed in June 2023, at the start of winter, and this place was cold. There was no central heating or air conditioning, so I bought a heater, but they didn't like guests using it because the electricity grid wasn't doing well and the heater drained it. In summer, I imagine it gets hot. I hated using the kitchen microwave at night because that's when the mice came out. I don't understand why businesses in South Africa leave doors and windows open all day in winter. That keeps the cold inside and lets rodents in. Close the doors, this is Africa. The location in Sunninghill is decent and safe, not one of Johannesburg's ghettos or slums. But the place needs a serious upgrade. My room was small and crappy, with a horrible restroom that smelled old and dingy. Some rooms are a little better, but this wasn't one of the nice rooms I've stayed in.

It's a lovely house, with a big room, safe parking, and a safe area. The woman at the front entrance was really friendly, helpful, and sweet. A few things could be better: there were only two TV channels, some bathroom floor tiles were broken, and the floor creaked a lot, though I guess that's part of this kind of house.

We were looking for good hospitality in a peaceful, secure setting at an affordable rate, and that's what we found. Thank you!

The place looks like it's falling apart and nothing like the photos. They should update them to show its actual condition. The room didn't feel clean, either. There was no remote or code for the gate, so you have to hoot and hope someone lets you in.

It's a nice, quiet location if you need to stay near the hospital. The owner needs to give the building urgent attention.
