Months later, I’m still thinking about my visit to Oceana. They had the birthday setup ready when I arrived, including a gorgeous bouquet, and the beach picnic was breathtaking, with delicious little bites. The staff were so attentive and caring. I especially loved the bedtime stories on the bed after dinner.

The pool room feels like a real private escape. You can look out at the ocean through the glass, and the privacy is on another level. The food, service and game drives were all world class. The Eastern Cape is lucky to have a place like this.

Our pool suite was incredible, with a fire pit, private balcony and gazebo, plus spectacular floor-to-ceiling glass. The staff were excellent, the game drives successful, and the sandy beach went on for miles without another person in sight. Oceana was the standout of our three-week trip around South Africa, even after Rovos Rail and several lovely hotels and resorts. The design and upkeep show great attention to detail, and the resort and surrounding area were superb. We were glad to save it for the end of our adventure. We’ll definitely return to Oceana and explore more nearby.

The beach is beautiful, and the game rangers know their stuff, sharing excellent information about the animals on the property. Staff were attentive from the moment we arrived. We also really enjoyed the meals, all expertly prepared and presented. A wonderful mix of nature and luxury, highly recommended.

We finished our trip here before heading home, and it was a lovely place to slow down and be pampered. The beach and views are amazing, the food is lovely, and the massage service is great. Compared with more adventurous game drives, the drives here can feel a little pedestrian. But with no predators, you can get close to giraffe, antelope and wildebeest.
