Acara Guest Cottages

Acara was a peaceful, picturesque place for our pre-wedding preparations, right near Winery Road Forest wedding venue. We’d love to return and spend more time enjoying the setting. The group arrangement worked perfectly: Willowtree Cottage for the bride and bridal party, the Thatch suite for the groom, and the thatch room for family. We could all get ready in one place while the couple avoided seeing each other that day. A few useful details: it’s self-catering, there are lovely dogs wandering around, and horses on the property if you love them. For a winter wedding, keep in mind that Acara runs on solar power, so the water may take a while to heat.

Fiona’s warm hospitality left me with some of my best memories and first impressions of South Africa. I spent six nights in the Balcony room at Acara Guesthouse and, traveling alone, felt safe and secure. The peaceful atmosphere let me completely relax, and the garden and beautiful view were wonderful. It’s ideally placed for exploring the wine areas, nearby gardens and horse riding in the vineyards. The room was very comfortable and fully equipped, and the host was lovely. The views were amazing!

We were able to celebrate together and have a fantastic spit braai in Fiona’s garden. A storm had left our friends’ original place without electricity, and within a couple of hours Fiona had arranged rooms for all of us, even though the storm had affected her too. Thanks so much for hosting us in such a beautiful setting and making it all possible.
