Simonzicht Guest House

The squeaky floor in our bedroom was our one real gripe. We had to tiptoe around, and our daughters said they could hear it downstairs. Apart from that, the stay was lovely. We were six, travelling with our daughters and their husbands, and the girls had brought us here for our anniversary. We arrived after dark from the reserve, so Beke, the friendly and welcoming manager, let us in and we dropped off our bags before heading straight to the restaurant. In the morning, opening the curtains was a surprise: we were surrounded by greenery with a mountain in front of us. Breakfast was set outside with music and a quiet, poetic feel. The two lovely women in the kitchen made the eggs we wanted, and the buffet had coffee, tea, cheese, fruit, cereal, milk, fresh juice and water. Best of all, there was a freshly baked loaf of bread. The next evening we asked Mr Beke if we could use the kitchen, so we could bring cheese and wine to enjoy at the hotel. It felt as if we had the place to ourselves, although another guest was staying there and usually came back late. We tidied everything before bed. The following morning Mr Beke was off, and another wonderful manager, whose name I've unfortunately forgotten, was there. She and the kitchen team were lovely. She said we didn't need to clean up, but appreciated that we had. Everything else was just right. I'd suggest avoiding the upstairs rooms because of the floor noise.
