Evergreen Guesthouse

The entrance has a fun Bat Cave feel, and Gerrit and the staff were friendly. I like having privacy and a homey atmosphere when I travel, and this place suited me well. There’s no sit-down breakfast, but food packs can be arranged. My room had a lovely bathroom with the choice of a bathtub or shower.

We ended up extending our stay because we enjoyed it so much. My fiancée, friend, and siblings all had a great time in Upington, and my fiancée slept so peacefully. The privacy was a big plus, as were Netflix and a few other subscriptions on all the TVs. Breakfast can also be included in a package. Gerrit and his staff were lovely, and the area was lovely too. I’d definitely book here again when I’m back.

The rooms are cozy, nicely decorated, and always clean, with a lovely scent. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are clean with good hot and cold water. The family room’s full kitchen has everything you need, while the other rooms have mini kitchens stocked with the basics. Gerrit is a lively, accommodating host who always does his best for us. I’d happily recommend Border Close Guest house. Thanks, Gerrit!

I’m upset by the owner’s rude, unprofessional response. I’d posted earlier that the room was clean but guests couldn’t use the pool. The owner replied that the place is under new management, doesn’t advertise a pool, and that I should have asked. Yet the second photo on Google Maps shows a pool on the premises. I paid for my stay and shouldn’t be treated this way. Please stay away if you don’t want to be treated as I was.
