The small pool wasn't really usable, and the bar service could be slow and disorganized. Check-in was poor and felt cold, with no Bonvoy recognition even though I'm Titanium. Check-out and my other interactions with staff were friendly and professional, though the front desk experience was hit and miss. Bonvoy handling and points posting were also a mess and took follow-up, which seemed like a training issue. The riverfront setting is the clear draw, with a relaxed, almost resort-like feel, spacious grounds, and easy secure parking. It's a great stop before heading into the Kalahari. Rooms are large, clean, practical, and have nice river views, though some parts look a little dated. Housekeeping did an excellent job, and the recently renovated public areas look fantastic. Breakfast was outstanding, easily one of the best I've had at a Protea Hotel. Dinner was solid too. Despite the service inconsistencies, we'd return.

The room was clean, though the shower had unpleasant black mould between the tiles and needs a thorough clean. The hotel itself is beautiful and quiet, with lovely river views and safe parking. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. I enjoyed my stay and recommend the hotel. Thanks.

I had a great time last week, and the food was amazing. The staff were really friendly too. My one issue was the front manager's appearance: she wore cargo pants and a graphic tee, and I don't remember the shoes, but the whole outfit looked out of place for a five-star hotel.

The large shower was a favorite, and the charging adapters were very welcome. We arrived on a very chilly morning, but the air-conditioned room and warm breakfast helped us warm up. It was what I'd expect from a three-star hotel.
