Nut Grove Boutique Hotel

The pool and lush garden or park at Nut Grove Manor make it easy to kick back and relax, and the manor itself is wonderfully tranquil. I started my journey through South Africa with two nights here and was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff before being shown to the Cashew Suite. It was bright, spotless, and beautiful. All the suites have private entrances and patios and are nicely furnished. The restaurant serves delicious food and local drinks. Breakfast can be served buffet style or at your table. I can wholeheartedly recommend this estate!

We really liked the manor's peaceful feel and well-kept shared spaces. It was oddly quiet, though, and felt like we might be the only guests. Finding out reception closed at 6 pm made that a bit unnerving. The minibar also wasn't complimentary, unlike everywhere else we stayed on this trip, and having to pay for things at check-in because reception closed early felt restrictive, especially over just a few dollars for a soda. The food was a highlight. Dinner was outstanding, and the staff thoughtfully prepared a good quality takeaway breakfast for our early departure. We were greeted with a refreshing drink and check-in was quick and easy. The staff member we dealt with was professional and accommodating. Our Luxury Suite was extremely well appointed with modern amenities, a pleasant surprise, though it didn't quite fit the historic setting we'd expected and took away a little of the old-world charm. Nut Grove Manor is serene and close to the main road, so it balances accessibility with seclusion. It's a beautiful place with excellent dining and modern comforts, though it may not deliver the historic manor experience some people expect. It's a good retreat if you're comfortable being a bit self-sufficient.

The restaurant was one of the best we tried on our trip to South Africa. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service there was great. Still, the hotel's management ruined our stay. We wanted to check out late, at 15 pm, and they made a HUGE issue of it. In the end, we had to book another full day online because their offer cost more than a full day there. That's not the kind of service I'd expect from a nice hotel. Never again, ciao.

The gardens are delightful at this lovely boutique hotel. Good food too. I'd recommend it.
