We spent the weekend at the Swallows Nest. The staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful, and breakfast was great in a beautiful dining room. We booked two rooms. My daughter's was in good condition and nearly what we'd expect for the price. Ours was next door and had a couch with no springs, a worn-out bedside lamp and a cracked wall heater. The bathroom and shower were divided from the bedroom by a curtain, so there wasn't much privacy. Still, both rooms had quality beds, linen, sheets and cushions. The B&B is right by the main road, but traffic noise wasn't much of an issue. If you're not fussy about the room and value good service, a lovely breakfast and a beautiful area, it can be money well spent. Just don't expect modern decor or a well-furnished room.

The gardens were lovely, and the property felt quite safe. Rooms were very clean, with excellent bedding, though the furniture looked a bit dated. It was somewhat noisy with the main road so close to the units. The DSTV was frustrating, since signal problems made most channels unwatchable. They should realign their dish. Decent enough for an overnight stay.

The bedding was clean and nice, but the rest of the room was a mess. There were coffee stains on the bedside table from a previous guest, and the shower was full of black mould, as if it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. As a traveller, clean bedding and a clean bathroom matter most to me, so I had to shower in slops. The fittings for hanging toiletries in both the shower and bath were broken off and left lying there. The place needs proper cleaning and some care.

We booked through AirBnB and were put in the reject room by the check-in desk, even though the place was basically empty. It didn't feel private, with no proper windows and no bathroom door, so the bathroom was effectively part of the bedroom. There was no aircon, the TV was tiny, and the space heater was broken. Breakfast was OK but overpriced. We definitely won't stay here again.

This was a disappointing stay. We got in late from Johannesburg, around 8:30 pm, and couldn't make tea or prepare food because there were so few utensils. There wasn't any milk, and when I went out looking for some, all the shops were already shut. The fridge leaked water across the lounge floor overnight. There was no power in our room even though there hadn't been an outage, so again we couldn't make anything to eat or drink. The dogs and cat kept waking us up.
