Okavango Lodge

The garden is such a lovely place to sit, and the room had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was nice too. We had a very good stay. I hope more people come here ❤️

The garden is the only thing that really makes this place worthwhile. The staff do try hard to keep it functioning, and I appreciated that, but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it, even at a low price. The room was dark enough that the lights had to stay on, with small dimensions and an even tinier bathroom. The old wooden furniture had holes that cockroaches came out of. The wardrobe was open, and the bathroom window wouldn't shut, so I tied a plastic bag over it to keep bugs out. Power cuts happened constantly, and I was often left in the dark. At least there was a solar light, and the mosquito net over the bed helped with other bugs as well as mosquitoes.

We enjoyed staying here. The grounds are kept neat, and the staff put plenty of effort into that. Being right in central Livingston makes the lodge very good value. Breakfast comes with the stay; it's simple, but we liked it.

The location is quite good, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean, but really tiny and cramped. At $36 for foreigners compared with $25 for locals, it feels overpriced for a budget place. The main issue is load-shedding, which seems to happen most of the day and night. When it does, all water goes off, not just hot water, and there's no way to charge a phone.
