Wanderers Lodge

The lodge is in a perfect, upscale location, and the rooms seemed clean enough. But the staff hospitality needs a lot of improvement. Some rooms have 21-inch TVs that don't work. The owners should do more with a place that has such a good location.

I was completely disappointed. The air conditioning didn't work, the windows were broken and let in the winter cold, and my room door wouldn't lock from outside because the biometric cards weren't working. Worse, the lodge had just one card for all its doors. The rooms seemed as if they had never been maintained since construction, and complaints from guests aren't taken into account. Unless you're fine with poor value for money, I'd avoid this lodge.

The shuttle I arranged through the lodge never showed up. When I called from the airport, all I got was “o, o,” followed by advice to take a taxi. Service was poor throughout: my room went uncleaned for a week, and at 1:30 a.m. I was woken up to hand over an aircon remote because apparently it was the only one for the whole lodge. Give it a miss. The backpackers lodge across the street is better and costs less than 20% as much.

I missed the entrance because there was no sign or billboard with the lodge's name. The woman I met, who seemed to be some sort of manager, wasn't welcoming, and I felt out of place. Hospitality gets two stars from me.
