There wasn't much to see during our 15-minute walk around, so we didn't take any photos. Several things stood out, though: doors are coming off their hinges, and at least two of the cottages have obvious holes in the roofs. The place has deteriorated and falls below even a typical backpacker standard. Wildlife in this area is much less plentiful now, so it can't make up for the collapse of what must once have been a lovely, simple venue. I wouldn't drive 3.5km down a dirt road from the main road to see it.

We came for the wildlife, and the safari drives were excellent and very professionally run. The campfire overlooking the waterhole was wonderful, with elephants passing by throughout the day. The location also worked well, with an easy transfer from the Hwange Safari Lodge. The rooms could use maintenance, though most things worked. Advertised WiFi wasn't working, and meals felt hurried. The food was decent, but I think the staff's attentiveness made mealtimes feel rushed. For the price, it's good value compared with luxury lodges if seeing wildlife matters more to you than food, drinks, and luxury hotel service.

The accommodation is extremely basic, which is the only reason for my low rating. It's a small, rustic, inexpensive lodge, with friendly, laid-back staff. The set-menu food was good, and the nearby waterhole brought game close by. We saw plenty of elephants and wild painted dogs.

We saw plenty of animals around the area, both day and night, including elephants and baboons. The bungalow was clean and comfortable, and the food was very good. Ganda Lodge is near to cross-Mabale. Lovely and her team were warm and friendly, and welcomed us with juice. A really nice place.

At Ganda, you never know what animals will turn up at the watering hole from one day to the next. I watched nearly nine painted dogs take down a warthog while I sat on the balcony. It happened so quickly, and I felt sorry for the warthog. You don't have to go on a game drive to see wildlife here. The bush comes to life right in front of you.
