Eden Lodge Vumba

The menu didn’t offer much variety, and the food was bland. My steak came completely overcooked even though I’d specifically asked for medium rare, after a full hour of waiting. On the bright side, customer service was helpful, and Joe, our guide to the waterfalls, was very kind and helpful.

They wouldn’t connect our phones to the WiFi, and the toilets are a health hazard. Service was terrible. We also had to fight to get back the refund for activities we’d cancelled. Only two of the horse riders were somewhat helpful. The steps down to the falls need maintenance.

The bathrooms were terrible, and we ended up leaving after waiting too long for service. The guard at the gate was the only good part of our visit to Eden on 31/03/24. Reception was only partly staffed, and the receptionist was also waiting tables, so you had to wait depending on where they were. Finding the lodge was difficult too, since there were no signs along Bvumba road. We went up and down several times before a man by the road gave us directions. The receptionist said they were waiting for the ministry of transport to put up signs for them.

There’s still some magic to being in Vumba, and the place itself is beautiful with potential. Sadly, it seems a bit neglected.
