The Telescope Boutique Lodge

I arrived at Telescope Boutique Lodge in Victoria Falls on September 8, 2025, through Booking.com, expecting a safe, relaxing visit. Instead, my engagement ring was stolen. About two hours after checking in, I briefly went out and accidentally left my room key card inside. When I came back, reception gave me a key. I then discovered the ring was gone. The lodge acknowledged what had happened, but there was no immediate response or added safeguard. I have serious concerns about guest safety, staff accountability and how room access is managed. How did someone get into my room without my knowledge? Why wasn't there better oversight of key card issuance or access? Traveling with valuables feels risky here. I'd advise other guests to use a safe if one is available, or consider somewhere with stronger security. This ruined what should have been a special trip, and I hope Booking.com and the lodge take it seriously so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

More than half the menu items weren't available, which was especially disappointing, and the online information gave a misleading impression. If I'd known, I wouldn't have stayed. There was no hot water for five of us during the visit, so we had to use another room 30 meters away. The internet was useless, and the TV couldn't be watched because of the poor signal. I want to warn people not to be misled by what's written online.

We were especially happy with the spacious rooms, lovely interior, delicious food and all the thoughtful details. The experience felt private, and we really enjoyed the service. The team seemed capable of handling anything, and the attention was truly outstanding by international standards. We'd wholeheartedly recommend it.

Our room was cosy and clean, with very comfortable beds, and breakfast arrived right on time, fresh and delicious. The lodge looks modern and was reasonably priced, and it met what we'd expected for the cost. The staff were lovely and attentive, and their service is a big part of what makes the place special. We were out most of the time, so the TV not finding any channels and the Wi-Fi struggling to stay strong weren't major issues. Cell reception wasn't great either, though that's not their fault. My travel buddy prefers tea, and it would have been nice to have it at the kettle station instead of having to ask. We did ask for tea bags and milk, and they brought them, so it was a minor issue. It could get a little too quiet at times, and I thought some background music might add a bit of atmosphere, but that's just me. Great value, and this is now my go-to place for Vic Falls when I return. Thanks to all the staff, especially Anesu and Samantha, for making our stay so wonderful. Five stars.
