Green Sky Hostel

I was there for 5 nights and it was perfect. The view was marvelous, and the interior was well designed. It’s right next to the free beach, taxis stop outside, and they clean every day. The place was so clean, and it really is a hidden gem with the best selection of people staying there. Kudos to Mona and Samir.

I found ants in the bed and inside the dresser drawers. When I told Mona, she just laughed and said they are guests too. It took hours of pestering before she brought some kind of bug spray to my room. After getting home, I had to throw away all the clothes I travelled with and my suitcase. I’m disgusted and traumatized, and when I try to sleep I feel things crawling over me. If you care about your peace of mind and sanity, avoid this place. This was possibly the worst stay I’ve ever had. If you want to enjoy your trip to Dubai, please stay elsewhere. The host, Mona, doesn’t care about cleanliness or her customers’ well-being. Thank you.

The location in Dubai Marina, close to metro and tram, and the balcony view are beautiful. But the disorganized management and poor cleanliness make me advise against staying here. I also saw the host, Mona, get aggressive with guests and have a full-blown argument in the common area, so it wasn’t a peaceful environment. Don’t be taken in by the photos. I wish I’d known before wasting my money. I was in town for the Dubai EXPO 2020 and stayed a few nights. The black mold, leaky ceiling, dirty bathroom facilities, and roaches others mentioned are real problems. A roach crawled over my foot while I was using the bathroom, and another went past me in the kitchen. The shower was practically unusable, with dirty black liquid covering the floor before and after each shower. Mold covered the bathroom walls, doors, and ceilings, and it was perpetually soaking in there. Over two dozen people share one toilet and shower. There’s limited space for luggage if you bring extra or large pieces, and the cancellation policy is no-refund. There were no COVID-19 safety protocols in place. Nobody greeted me on arrival, which was confusing, and the host didn’t answer her phone. I wasn’t asked for proof of vaccine or a negative PCR after settling in, which concerned me for a hostel with a capacity of 15 different people at any given moment. It’s also an unmarked apartment in a residential building, making it even harder to locate. For a single bed space in a tiny room shared with 5 other people breathing in your face, I think the hostel is overpriced. That money could easily get you your own hotel room somewhere else in Dubai. I wouldn’t stay again. The location and balcony view are the only positives.

Super clean and wonderful, I felt at home right away. The Dubai Marina location is perfect, with supermarkets and restaurants nearby and the tram and metro very close. The view is beautiful, looking toward Palm Island, Marina Harbor, and Burj Khalifa in the distance.
