Driti Hotel Tirana

I work in a hotel myself and know things can go wrong, but this room made us feel unwelcome. We had a disagreement about how to pay right at the start. They first asked for more than the Booking price because of commissions; we agreed I’d pay cash to avoid that, but they still charged the original higher amount. I wasn’t given an invoice, so I had to accept it. The room was in rough shape. It smelled of tobacco, and on a November night there was only one sheet, though I found a blanket in a drawer. The shower holder was broken, hot water came and went, the sink had no cold water on the first day, and the toilet wouldn’t flush until I fixed it myself. The shower and the toilet brush glass were mouldy and dirty. One remote was on the floor when I arrived, and the other had snapped in two. The street-facing curtain had holes, and a large cement-patched hole in the wall had been painted white, almost comically. There was no wardrobe, just hooks and hangers, one hook broken on the floor. The drawers had crumbs left by the previous guest.

The room was small, but spotless, and the shower was spacious, clean, and really comfortable. It’s right on the boulevard, close to the center, yet the soundproofing was good. The cleaner was kind and did an impeccable job, and the service was perfect. My only inconvenience was the lack of an elevator and the steep stairs. Thank you, well done.

The Wi-Fi was fast, but the TV didn’t work. Staff were friendly and the rooms looked very nice, though they felt too small. The door was a bit broken and difficult to lock or unlock, which left me feeling somewhat unsafe.

Don’t go. We arrived directly from the airport at 1 a.m. to find dirty rooms and dirty towels. Neither the Wi-Fi nor the air conditioner worked, and when we called, they hung up on us. It was awful, the worst place I’ve stayed.
