The cutest cats were a bonus. We stayed as a couple for 3 nights and tried 3 different rooms. They were all very comfortable, and the shared bathrooms and kitchen were always clean. The staff were flexible and helpful, and let us leave our luggage there for a few nights while we were away.

One thing that needs sorting out is the difference between booking a private room and a dorm bed. Twice they tried to put strangers in my room, though we managed to clear up the misunderstanding. Aside from that, it's a convenient, great-value place for backpackers, explorers, and young travellers. The staff are lovely, helpful, and smiley, and some speak a little English. Breakfast is basic but fine, and there's a big kitchen for cooking. There's some wear and tear, but it's a hostel in South America. All in all, I'd recommend it to budget travellers.

Everyone we spoke to was really friendly, nice, and helpful. Martina at the front desk was especially helpful when we checked out. We had a wonderful stay, and the beds were comfortable and the place was clean.

For a 53 year old like me, I have no complaints. It's clean, the water's hot, and it's cheap. We paid under $200 for a week, even with a private room that sleeps 3. There are hostels all along the street, so it shouldn't be hard to find another if you're unhappy.
