Posada y Cabañas El Barranco

The beds in the family room were really comfortable, and I felt welcome from the moment I arrived. Everyone on staff was kind. Rocio deserves a special mention for being so patient and thoughtful, and for giving us such good recommendations.

The cabins had a kitchen, and the bathroom was a decent size, though it could use more counter space. The pillows could use replacing, too. We had a great stay otherwise: the staff were fantastic and the service was genuinely high quality. I gave it three stars because the price felt steep. They had told us the charge would use the exchange rate on the day, so that part wasn't a surprise, but I hadn't expected such a big difference. Breakfast also felt too basic for what we paid per night, so I don't think the rooms and cabins are good value.

The location is great, and the staff were kind and helpful, with very good English. But prices in El Chalten are high, and here we felt we got only the bare minimum for what we paid. I can't comment on the cabins since we had a room. It was extremely small, with nowhere to put normal-sized suitcases and no hooks for clothes or towels, which was especially inconvenient after a hike. The bathroom was okay, but small too. Breakfast was basic.

The cottage had loads of space, a layout I really liked, and super comfortable beds. It would have been perfect, except the door key couldn't lock the door from inside, so I couldn't give it five stars.
