Hotel Arcos

Breakfast was good, especially the delicious jam, and the price felt fair for what we got. It’s a handy spot for a short stay, with the basics in the room. Ours had a broken key, and when we mentioned it to two staff members, one didn’t pay attention. After that, we had no more trouble. The hotel is three blocks from the beach and casino.

The best interaction was with the night attendant, a bald man with light eyes who was genuinely lovely and kind. The maids were friendly too, and we never ran short of anything. The location is convenient, about a block and a half from the beach, and it was good enough for the Carnival weekend we had left to book. If you’re mainly going to sleep there and spend the day out, it’s not bad. There were plenty of downsides. The room was much too small for the nightly price, and there’s no elevator, so I wouldn’t suggest it for older guests. Breakfast was all sweet, with no savory choices; the coffee was passable and the croissants just okay. I also didn’t like having to leave the room key at the hotel when going out. The bearded morning attendant was rude, gave us dirty looks, and didn’t say hello. The afternoon-to-night attendant was completely out of line, telling us not to wear perfume because it smelled “strong.” That was an inappropriate comment.

The location was good, but the rest of our stay was a disaster. We were in room 18, which had no air conditioning and was terribly hot. Its window was broken, and at night there was a horrible fried food smell from somewhere. The furniture was old, we saw cockroaches, and the hotel felt very old and neglected. Breakfast was poor. We’ll never return, and I don’t recommend it.

The staff made the stay, always friendly, helpful, and ready to assist with anything. The hotel was lovely, with a comfortable room that was clean and well cared for. It’s in a quiet, pleasant area close to everything, so getting around was easy. I’d definitely recommend it.
