Ibis Pilar

The room was small but cozy, and the location was convenient. Renovation work was going on, so there was noise during the day. A couple of important details caught me off guard. I usually book with my corporate rate, but tried the hotel’s breakfast-included offer. At check-in I learned breakfast was no longer buffet style and ended at 9 AM on Sunday. I raised the issue, but was told renovations meant this was the only room rate available, without my corporate discount, and that they couldn’t even serve coffee after 9. I arrived late in the rain and found the parking gate closed. After waiting in my car and getting no response to my horn, I opened it myself, soaking my suit in the process. Once I’d parked, a security guard came over without greeting me and said I shouldn’t have opened it because alarms had gone off. He didn’t listen to my feedback and kept insisting I was in the wrong.

Breakfast was a highlight, with tasty bread and a good variety. The hotel itself was quiet, and it’s right across from a shopping mall. There are several nearby restaurants with delicious food and a nice place to relax.

The Olivier confectionery is part of the hotel, and besides desserts it has sandwiches and other light bites. The waitresses were friendly and capable. Staff throughout were pleasant and ready to help, and the ibis is at a decent standard in a great spot, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Breakfast is buffet style, though I’d have liked a wider selection. I recommend it.

The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly, so it worked fine for a short stay. I did have trouble connecting my phone to the hotel Wi-Fi, which was frustrating, and there were some leaks in the bathroom plumbing. They weren’t major, but they were inconvenient.
