A very nice hostel with clean, basic rooms. It gets a little cold at night.

Yolanda, the owner, was very friendly, and everything was clean. It's a simple guesthouse with a firm mattress. The place is up an unpaved hill, but it was easy enough to reach.

It's handy that you're close to the entrance for the Devil's Throat trek and the llama caravan. We stayed three nights and had a very good experience. Yolanda was always around to help. Our four-person room had a fully equipped kitchen, with pots, kettle, cutlery, and so on. The room and bathroom were clean and had thoughtful details. It's not a boutique place, but it has what you need: hot showers, clean linens, a small cable TV, and Wi-Fi in the shared areas. The price for what you get is excellent. Just keep in mind it's a bit over a 10-minute uphill walk from the center. The cobblestones become a dirt road with a slight incline, so it can be a climb if you're in a hurry or not in decent shape. 😅

Tilcara is beautiful, and it's important to enjoy tourism in a positive way. Hospedaje Elías is a wonderful place, simple and cozy without feeling over the top. It's super clean and smells fresh, from the entrance to the bathroom, and the beds are really comfortable. There's everything you need to feel welcome. Yolanda is super friendly, welcomes you warmly, and gives great recommendations. Marcelo's grocery store is next door, with a little bit of everything. Go make yourself comfortable, step out onto the patio, and look at the stars. This is Tilcara.
