We arrived at 9:00 AM after letting the guesthouse know in advance that we’d be early for breakfast. That was fine, we paid €20 per person on site, and we could check into our rooms right after eating. We were there as a family, with a double room and a single room. The single was adequate for one person, with a 120x200 cm bed and a practically new shower bathroom. Our double room faced the street but was absolutely quiet, with hardly any cars passing. Its bathroom was also practically new and large enough, though the furniture was a bit dated, especially the very low bed. We would have liked a more comfortable bed height. There was laminate flooring, and the rooms had no blackout curtains or blinds, so it got very bright early and we woke up too soon. There were no room trash cans, only a small one in the bathroom. That may stop people throwing things away, but a refrigerator or at least a minibar would be useful for keeping drinks cold. The doors are low and small. At 190 cm tall, you have to duck or you’ll bump your head every time. I don’t understand why they’re so low. We booked half-board, with breakfast at the guesthouse and vouchers for dinner at a choice of three restaurants. We tried all three, but were only really satisfied with one. We can enthusiastically recommend "Schnitzel Eck" and would steer people away from the other restaurants. Breakfast ends at 9:30 a.m., so make sure you get there by then. They made scrambled eggs for me when I asked. If you don’t have high expectations, you’ll find something to eat and be satisfied. Still, I’d have preferred a whole apple or pear rather than fruit cut into little pieces for small children. I also wanted to slice my own bread from a whole loaf, instead of getting pre-sliced bread in a Tupperware container in measured portions. They gave us a few more pats of butter when we asked, but I don’t want to keep asking for things just because they aren’t replenished. The cake was cut into bite-sized pieces too. Breakfast was spartan overall, and at €20 per person it was far too expensive and not worth the price. They also expected us to take off our wet shoes at the entrance and leave them in the basement shoe room. I think that’s unacceptable to demand of guests. Our son was shocked he had to leave his expensive brand-name shoes downstairs, so we walked through wearing our shoes anyway. Cleanliness throughout the guesthouse was a definite plus, spotless down to every corner. The grounds and garden were lovely, inviting, and clean too. I really enjoyed the refreshing pool. Parking is free right outside, and the owners live in the building. They gave us a very warm welcome and are lovely people. We had a short break in June 2026. But everyone has to decide for themselves, because for us, a clean, beautiful guesthouse isn’t enough if the rest doesn’t feel right.
