Haus Claudia

Don't book this place. The owner Martina and her strange partner were the worst hosts I've ever encountered. They were rude and ignorant, and the accommodation is very dated. They're in a busy town where they don't have to seek out guests, so they treat people with total impertinence.

My experience with this place was disappointing, even though it had great reviews and I ended up finding another accommodation with kind, friendly hosts. I booked through Booking and hadn't checked the check-in window, which was 4 to 7 pm. They messaged me about automatic check-in and asked me to let them know if I would arrive after 7. I explained that my train would get me there by 8:30 at the latest, said I would check in in advance, and asked whether they needed anything else from me. They replied that check-in after 7 wasn't allowed and that I could cancel for free. They did waive the cancellation fee, but this was only the day before my trip. All their replies were in German, although I wrote in English, and they didn't feel friendly at all. If you expect to arrive after 7, don't book here.

I ended up having to book a more expensive hotel. They had emailed me saying to call if I was running late, but when I called at about 13:00, nobody answered. I called again at 15:00 and was told they would not allow check-in even one minute after 19:00. I asked if they could wait until 19:15, but they said it was my problem and wouldn't wait 15 minutes.

Everything you need for a convenient stay in Mayrhofen is nearby, including the lift, restaurants, and bars. The rooms at haus Claudia are spacious and very clean. The interior could do with an update, but it was functional. I'd recommend it.
