Hotel-Pension Strolz

We had a perfect holiday here in June 2025. It’s a comfortable hotel in an amazing location, with helpful, friendly staff. Breakfast from the buffet was just what we needed to get the day started, and the evening meals were really good and tasty. It’s a great base for walks and excursions.

The food is amazing, and it feels like eating with family because you are. We’ve gone to the Strolz every year for the last 3 years for a ski holiday, and it’s perfect. The chefs are inventive, so every night across the 5 weeks we’ve been there was different. After a hard day of skiing, the pool and sauna are a real help.

This was our second stay at the Strolz, and we’d definitely like to return during ski season. The atmosphere was relaxed, everywhere was spotless, and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is on the edge of town, so it’s nice and quiet with open views, while everything is still an easy walk away. We had a spacious top floor room with a balcony in the annexe. A note for anyone with mobility issues or very heavy cases, there’s no lift in that building. The breakfast buffet and four course evening meal were beautifully prepared and presented. Barbecue night in the large, well kept garden was a real treat, especially the prawns.

The breakfast was good, and the location is very quiet, with the ski bus close by. But the Annexe is a separate building down the street, nothing like the hotel, and there’s no lounge or bar, just rooms. You have to walk up to the main hotel for breakfast or anything else. The rooms there are small but okay, though the shower in room 507 had mould. The main hotel is very dated, and there’s no bar or snug, which was disappointing. The owner was very odd and not welcoming at all. She didn’t make conversation or offer information, and seemed totally disinterested. The pool was freezing, as people have apparently said for years, and there was very little changing space. There were no towels at the pool. When I asked the unfriendly owner, she said to use my bath towel, even though there were lots of large yellow stripe towels in the sauna area. The towels provided were threadbare, very thin, hand towel sized, and all different colors, with no bath towel sized ones. The food felt over pretentious, and I often wondered what I was eating. I wouldn’t stay again because the Annexe is a different building and because of all the other issues, which others have mentioned too.
