Gästehaus Sonnenhof (Fam. Birschel)

The landlady serves a nice breakfast with something for everyone. The rooms seem fairly recently renovated and are quite spacious. There's a small sauna downstairs, and towels are provided.

We could set off on great hikes right from the Sonnenhof, and the included Walser Ticket let us use all buses and mountain railways for free. The setting was beautiful and peaceful, at the end of a cul-de-sac. Through the big windows, we had a stunning panoramic view of the mountains. Our holiday apartment was beautifully furnished and laid out so well that we wanted for nothing. We stayed for 14 wonderful days. Breakfast became a treat every morning, with delicious rolls and bread, cold cuts, cheese, plenty of muesli, fruit, and everything else needed for a good start. Mrs. Birschel and her daughter Astrid were fantastic hosts, always friendly and positive, and gave us excellent recommendations. Their warmth made me feel good every day. We've been going to Austria every winter, and we've never stayed in a worse guesthouse. The cleaning lady did a good job, though, and the friendliest welcome came from the dog, wagging his tail happily. On our first day, we were without running water for an hour. I had to wash my hands with snow, and my child was left standing in the shower with no water. Nobody even mentioned the inconvenience. The kitchen hood didn't work and was never fixed, so cooking smells stayed in the room. With the severe frost, airing it out was difficult. The bed fabric was old and crumbled onto the sheets. The TV remote was patched with medical tape and took a long time to turn on. They had promised to switch on the shoe dryer in the garage, but it wasn't on, so our shoes were cold in the morning. The kitchen cups and glasses were old, and the shower towels were faded. Then our glass wine goblet cracked in the dishwasher, probably because it already had a microcrack, and they charged us 5 euros.

The apartment was cleaned every day by a really friendly woman, and the service throughout was just as warm. The location was great too. Simply excellent!
