The grounds are spacious, with places to relax, do yoga, or play sports, and there are walking paths nearby for a quick stroll or a longer hike. The food was the best part for me: the breakfast buffet was excellent, and lunch and dinner had lots of choices too, including plenty for vegetarians and people with dietary restrictions. The hotel cat was the real highlight, popping up in the most unexpected places and at surprising times. I was here recently as a conference guest and had a pleasant stay overall. My room was simple and basic, but the lovely mountain view made up for the minimal furnishings.

Right in the heart of the Rax region, the place is nice and gives easy access to all the hiking routes. There’s also a free shuttle bus to specific locations. I gave it four stars because the room was very warm and there’s no air conditioning. I had to leave the windows open, and the mosquitoes were vicious, really over the top.

The staff were kind and helpful throughout our weeklong summer school stay, and they offer a shuttle service. Hiking trails are nearby, and we were able to use a common room for a meeting. The place is a bit old, though, and there was sometimes a strange smell. The smell in that meeting room was so bad I almost threw up. I also ended up covered in cat hair, which worried me because of my allergies. They should clean those areas more often.

The owners are incredible, and the surroundings are amazing. A lot of the food comes from homegrown vegetables and herbs. It’s one of the best hotels I’ve ever visited. It isn’t luxurious like some places, but when you spend a lot of time abroad, that family feeling is priceless. I could go on.
